The simultaneous impact of a symbol on different levels of awareness, has always secured my attention in visual art, performance art, literature, or life in general. A via regia of sorts, as Freud would put it, the symbol allows entry to those subdued, if not forgotten forces that pull our strings.

The purpose of my art is to reconnect, discover, and/or realize the schisms in us all, so that we may change the course a little to the right, and see what happens....

VICIOUS CYCLE

Symbolizes how viciousness (anger, aggression) is immediately harmful to the perpetrator (no matter who started first), be it through adversarial relations, or internal mayhem (most likely both). The title is a word play on 'vicious cycle', as in the repetition of a harmful cycle, but also as in the projected meanness of suppressed pain.

 STATE OF BEING

The missile entering the back symbolizes past attacks, perpetrated by parents, and/or other care givers, causing aggression in turn (internal and external), symbolized by the missile being thrown, while figure is really wishing for peace (as revealed by left hand).

SUMO WOMAN

Ready to defend her sphere. She is filled with sand, because Noa, my then 12 year old daughter, once remarked (while retracing the faulty reasoning behind female subjugation), that the biblical Eve was every bit as godly as Adam, for if God touched Adam's sandy body, and Eve came from Adam, then the following rule applies: if a=b, and b=c, then a=c.
